Jeff Mihalyo
French Connection
New oil paintings
November 11 - December 6, 2006

Inspired by a journey to France, Mr. Mihalyo reflects upon his travel experience with a mix of architectural landscapes, and his trademark surreal imagery. Fragments of Paris, Arles, Avignon, Nice, and Sarlat present a travel log of the artist's three-week pilgrimage to view the many of the great works of the Art History.

Historic icons and twentieth century references are used as metaphors for the perils of modern living. Mihalyo's soft-edged realism, rendered in oil, shows his mastery for depicting light and atmospheric perspective. The surreal images of his paintings possess a keen sense of observation, a hyphenated narration of delightfully strange and eerily precise beauty. Conceptually, he wishes to create a dialogue without words, to connect with the viewer though memory or emotion.

Jeff Mihalyo grew up in the Seattle area and studied fine art at Otis/Parsons, in Los Angeles. He has been exhibiting in the Northwest for 15 years and is collected from coast to coast.
