Scott Lantz
Scenes of Seattle, Paris and more

May 12th to June 6th

Artist Reception, Saturday, May 12th, 6 to 10 pm

Gallery 63 Eleven welcomes local artist Scott Lantz in his first one man show with the gallery. Scott Lantz is a local artist who show his works at the Pike Place Market year round.

I am essentially self-taught as an artist. After painting off and on for over 20 years, I decided to devote myself to it full-time. I have displayed and sold originals and reproductions of my work at the Pike Place Market daystalls since April 2003. This is my first gallery exhibition.

My subject matter is contemporary life in Seattle and wherever I travel: landscapes urban and natural, scenes of public activity and private reflection. Last year I visited Paris for the first time and found it particularly inspiring. I hope to return again and again.

I work in a very naturalistic (realistic) style, emphasizing effects of light and utilizing dramatic perspective. I admire and am influenced by artists such as Degas and Hopper. I also have profound appreciation for the work of earlier masters like Vermeer and Ingres. I believe that, even in an age of photography and cinema, naturalistic painting can offer a unique and refreshing view of the world.

Scott will be in the gallery Saturday, June 2nd from 11:00 to 5:00pm.
